However, Mr. President goofed on grounds of facts and morality. Therefore, he needs to recant; or, better still, somebody should explain what he was trying to say to Nigerians regarding Bamanga Tukur, the ousted National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the NOT GUILTY verdict he passed on the former ruling party leader.

But those who know President Goodluck Jonathan say of him that he is a nice man by nature; that he is moulded in the image of a gentleman. He has serially demonstrated that attribute in his long suffering disposition to issues concerning himself, his political party and his handling of affairs in Nigeria since May 2010 – mind you, as vice president, he tolerated and took in all the delinquent conduct of members of the cabal who trampled on his person and his office while the Office of the President suffered a lacuna.

That his modus operandi is not the same as that of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a man who operates like a locomotive engine with a failed break system, is not in doubt. Spanning the ASUU strike, the walkout on him at the PDP convention last August, PHCN workers’ retirement benefits, the charge by the CBN Governor, Lamido Sanusi, regarding the missing $49billion and some other issues too numerous to mention here, Jonathan has demonstrated that he is a Gentleman President.

However, being a Gentleman President does not in any way justify his penchant for pushing his luck too far.
At the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the PDP, last Thursday, President Jonathan told Nigerians that Tukur had resigned and his resignation had been accepted. That was good because Tukur’s excess baggage was already dragging the selfsame Jonathan down the bottom of the river.

But for Mr. President to add that Tukur did no wrong sends the wrong signal.
On issues of morality, why was Tukur forced to resign if he did no wrong?
Flowing from that, and, worse still, those in attendance at the PDP NEC meeting stood up to applaud the President’s statement, thereby, confirming that Tukur did no wrong. The downside to this is that an innocent man is being forced out of office for doing no wrong.

In truth and in protection of the integrity of the Office of the President of Nigeria, Jonathan shouldn’t have been the one to pronounce a NOT GUILTY verdict on Tukur.
The ever garrulous National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, should have been saddled with that responsibility since most of the statements he issues are either lacking in depth of logic, flippant or highly combustible in content, context and interpretation. If Metuh had pronounced Tukur NOT GUILTY, may be as vote of thanks, it would have followed the pattern of his sometimes inane statements.

That the PDP could open President Jonathan’s flanks in public is not right. Now, on the issue of fact, Tukur did many wrongs.
Upon assumption of office, he appointed special advisers to take over every key job of the NWC members. Those ones kicked. He was forced to dump his advisers.

The unilateral actions he took regarding the state chapter of Adamawa State, which opened him to attacks from state governors set the stage for every other thing that has gone wrong since his assumption of office, getting to a head with the walkout on Mr. President at the party’s August national convention. President Jonathan himself had, reportedly, been serially embarrassed by some of the actions of Tukur (like suspending a state governor from the party without the President’s knowledge).

Even while the topsy-turvy created by Tukur’s style of administration lasted, just last Monday, the Kwara and Sokoto State chapters were again tinkered with in a unilateral manner. The President was misled into believing that the Nigeria Governors’ Forum was in the pocket of some individuals whose loyalty today remains in doubt. Yet, when they failed to deliver, they, inexplicably, persuaded Mr. President to align with their warped reasoning that numeral 16 is greater than numeral 19 and, therefore, Jonah Jang with 16 votes won against Rotimi Amaechi’s 19.

What morals are we passing to the younger generation?
President Jonathan landed the killer blow when he promised to give Tukur a more important job than that of PDP Chairman.
In which part of the world is an individual acknowledged as not doing any wrong but he is ridiculed and deprived of his office, only to be promised a higher calling? The answer is Nigeria.

If Tukur is said to have sacrificed his office for peace in the party, that is meet and proper. If Tukur is said to have been sacrificed for peace to reign in PDP, it is understandable because some others do have people like Tukur who make huge sacrifices. If President Jonathan wanted to be charitable to an elder, it is his right to so do. If the same fat cats in PDP who caused five state governors to dump the party wanted a soft landing for their ousted Chairman, it is permissible.

But to say Tukur did no wrong and he has been disgraced out of office is not fit to come from the President and Commander-in-Chief who also doubles as the leader of the PDP. But PDP always has its way. Just look at the history of past chairmen and how they ended.

Amaechi, Wike set for fresh show down-Rivers crisis

rotimi amaechi-wikeSupporters of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and those of the Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, are poised for a war of rallies in the state tomorrow,a week after the police broke up a similar gathering in Port Harcourt.
Senator Magnus Abe (Rivers Southeast),a supporter of the governor   was shot ,allegedly by the police,at that rally and is currently receiving treatment abroad.
The pro-Amaechi rally, organised by Save Rivers Movement (SRM),is scheduled to take place at Bori, the traditional headquarters of Ogoniland and the seat of Khana LGA while the pro-Wike rally is the brainchild of Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI).
It is slated for Degema-Kalabari,  headquarters of Degema LGA.
Spokesman for  GDI, Omunakwe Godwill, said  yesterday in Port Harcourt, that  the group’s rally would go ahead as planned  as Wike is determined to ‘rescue’ Rivers people from impunity.
Counsel to the pro-Amaechi  SRM, Ken Atsuwete, said on phone that he was at the Rivers police headquarters Port Harcourt yesterday , to deliver a letter   for Police Commissoner Joseph Mbu, to inform him of the Bori rally.
Atsuwete, a  human rights activist, said SRM’s letter was to ensure protection by the security personnel and not for police permit.
Mbu had declared that it was not yet time for political campaigns and vowed to stop any political gathering in the state.
Atsuwete saw nothing wrong in the two rival groups  holding rallies simultaneously.
Meanwhile, an organisation of young Ogoni professionals, the Ogoni Generation Next Project, which has Kadilo Kabari as Facilitator, has condemned the GDI and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for alleged sponsorship of anti-Abe protests in Ogoniland and other parts of the state.
It said the    “sponsorship of the youths to protest was aimed at questioning the veracity of the attack on Senator Abe. The police troopers provided security for the anti-Senator Abe protesters. It is a darker reminder of the ugly past.”
The Ogoni young professional also called on Ogoni and other citizens of Rivers state to put an end to the show of shame and asked for the implementation of the recommendations contained in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report on Ogoniland.

Govs may clash over Tukur’s successor-Jonathan

president GEJ
The choice of who becomes the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party is causing ripples between President Goodluck Jonathan and some governors elected on the platform of the party.

Investigations by our correspondents in Abuja on Saturday showed that while President Jonathan and his wife, Patience, have settled for a former member of the House of Representatives, Mohammed Wakil, some of the governors are kicking against it.

Some reasons adduced for the rejection of Wakil, who is a former House Leader, included his alleged inability to carry people along and inability to lead the majority while in the House.

One of the governors, who spoke with SUNDAY PUNCH in Abuja, said the President was bent on picking Wakil, who was the House Leader during the reign of Ghali Na’Abba as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Wakil is said to have undergone ministerial screening by security agents.

He said, “The President and his wife are bent on picking Wakil. At this critical time, we need a chairman who is an orator, who can carry people along and be able to grant interviews.

“We need someone who is pragmatic and is loved by all. This is not the right time to have a divided house.”

He said the governors of the party from the North-East have also told President Jonathan that they will prefer the next chairman of the party to come from either Yobe or Borno State.

The governors from the region are Isa Yuguda(Bauchi), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), Garba Umar(Taraba acting gov) and the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Bala Ngilari, who did not defect with his boss, Murtala Nyako.

He said this was the outcome of the meeting they had with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday.

The governor added that the President would be meeting with the governors on Sunday night to discuss the matter further.

It was further learnt that the governors are rooting for a former Minister of the FCT, Abba Gana, who hails from Borno, a non-PDP state and they have reached out to their colleagues in other zones to support their choice.

Other candidates for the post are Senator Abubakar Mahdi, Senator Abba Aji, Idris Waziri, Gambo Lawan, Adamu Waziri, Ibrahim Bunu, Musa Babayo, Habu Fari, among others.

When contacted, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, said there was nothing wrong if the President, as a leader of the party, has interest in who heads the PDP.

He added that as the party leader, the President meant well for the PDP and would want a good leader for the party.

Gulak listed some of the criteria expected of whoever will step into Tukur’s shoes to include discipline and experience.

“Yes, as the leader of the party, the President should be interested in who becomes the chairman of the PDP. Some of the criteria we are looking for are that whoever will become the chairman must be a detrabilised Nigerian, he must not be a religious bigot, he must be disciplined and of course, he must be full of experience,” Gulak said.

Similarly, the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mr. Olisa Metuh, expressed confidence in the ability of the party leadership to make the right choice.

Metuh said, “We trust the leader of our great party, President Goodluck Jonathan, and the leaders of our party in the North-East, to choose a national chairman who will build on the good works of our former leaders, to move the party forward.

“The NWC is ready to work with the new chairman to handle the task ahead; we have implicit confidence in our leaders.”

Meanwhile, the past Chairman of the party, Bamanga Tukur, is said to have kept to himself since his resignation.

One of his former aides, who pleaded anonymity, said, “I have been unable to see him after yesterday’s NEC meeting. I have also not been able to reach him by phone.

“I cannot say what his immediate plans are, but one thing I know is that he feels betrayed by some of his colleagues in the National Working Committee and he has not shown interest in supporting any candidate because he was not prepared for the way he was made to leave after all he did for the party.”

Kashamu’s reply to OBJ-Read!

How OBJ missed it – Kashamu

The reply of the South-west leader, Chief Buruji Kashamu, to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter.

My attention has been drawn to yet another letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the National Chairman of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, frowning at my allegedly being made the leader of the party in the South West. He called me “a wanted habitual criminal…for whom extradition has been requested by the US Government…”

Ordinarily, I would not have responded to his latest cocktail of lies having sufficiently addressed the same issue in my response to his letter to the President only a few weeks ago. However, since he has shown that he is too embittered to be assuaged by that response, I am constrained to do another.

First, it is now clear to all and sundry that why I have become the target of Obasanjo’s wicked campaign of calumny and blackmail is his perceived loss of political relevance in Ogun State and the South West. In his 18-page satanic letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, I was the other person – indeed the only one (after the President) – that he singled out for his venomous attack. But if the truth be told, I am not the architect of whatever political woes that he is suffering today. Like David, I am just a tool in the hands of the almighty Allah Subhana wa tala. I am too small to confront a Goliath like him but for the almighty Allah who is the supporter of the suppressed and oppressed.

In his usual hypocritical manner, he talked about not being able to work with me because of his principles and decency. But the questions Nigerians should ask him are: where were these principles when he used me to fight Gbenga Daniel? Where was his self-righteousness when I took the party structure from Daniel and handed it to Obasanjo? Where was his decency when he brought Gen. Adetunji Olurin to me and asked that I should roll my structure behind his the governorship ambition? Where was his morality when he introduced me to South West PDP leaders like Engr. Segun Oni, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade (rtd) and a host of others? Where was his discipline when he hosted me severally in his Hilltop mansion, taking me into his bedroom and innermost recesses? Where was his decency when he accepted donations from me to his church and other concerns? Where was his gumption when he mounted the rostrum to sing my praises, praying for me as he did in May 2010 during a reception for the former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye? I can go on and on!

Let me state from the outset that contrary to Obasanjo’s claim, I am not the leader of the party in the South West. I am just one of the party’s foot soldiers in the zone and it is in that capacity that I am made the Chairman of the Organisation and Mobilisation Committee for the party in the zone. It is indeed preposterous for anyone to call me the leader of the party in a zone that parades political juggernauts like Chief Olabode George, Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedokun, Senator Lekan Balogun, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Teslim Folarin, Alhaji Yekeen Adeojo, Senator Clement Awoyelu, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, Senator Bode Olajumoke and a host of others. All these leaders know me and can attest to the fact that I defer to them even when we disagree a times.

Now, on the issue of my so-called indictment in the United States, I wish to state for the umpteenth time that there is NO request for my extradition for any offence whatsoever. I recall that in my earlier response to him, I have challenged him to produce the request for extradition, if there is any. Indeed, contrary to his lies that I am wanted in the United States for some offences, the purported and over-flogged case is that of mistaken identity, for which I had been tried and discharged after my innocence was established by the British courts. I am already in court in the US asking that the earlier accusation (NOT CONVICTION) against me be quashed. That process is ongoing.

As to the Nigerian leg of the issue, as I have often that stated, I was the one that took the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to court in 2009/2010 to ask for a judicial pronouncement on the powers of the AGF under the Extradition Act when I got information that some of my political adversaries were pressurising the AGF to allegedly cause my extradition on the basis of the mistaken identity case referred to above.

In fact, in an 11-paragraph affidavit deposed to by the Office of AGF and dated 16th September, 2010, it stated that, “No request for the extradition of the Applicant was made on the 20th day of July, 2010 or on any date to the Respondent or to any Federal Agency by the United States Government or any other country…The Respondent or any of its officers or any agency of the Federal Government has not received any request from any country for the extradition of the Applicant for any offence whatsoever.”

Simply put, the AGF said nobody has asked that I be surrendered for any offence. Although the Federal High Court agreed with him, it went on to order that I could not be any fresh round of victimisation, harassment and intimidation on the basis of the same alleged offence that I had been exonerated of by the British courts. This was what the AGF quarrelled with and decided to appeal. The appellate court upheld his appeal, saying the action was “premature”.

Even though my detractors are wont to twist obvious facts to suit their invidious motives, I wish to once again avail the general public of some documents that are the result of painstaking and thorough investigations by credible international organisations, such as the Interpol and the German Embassy.

The Interpol in a report dated 4th March, 2008, and signed by ACP Haruna H. Mshelia, stated inter alia “That all our letters written to Interpol London, Lyon, Washington and Cotonou relating to enquiries on criminal/drug/conviction records of the suspect were returned negative to the effect that the suspect was never convicted of such offence in their territory.”

Following my application for visa, the German Embassy also wrote that it was “informed by the U.S. authorities at the end of August that its search warrant has been cancelled. As a consequence the equivalent search warrant of Interpol has also been withdrawn with immediate effect.” So with which warrant of arrest is the U.S supposed to ask for my extradition, and for which offence?

The British court, as per Lord Justice Pill and Mr. Justice Bell of the High Court of Justice, Queen Bench Division, said the apprehending authorities suppressed exculpatory evidence and discharged me in accordance with Articles 5 and 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights and Human Rights Act, 1998. The District Judge Tim Workman in his 2003 judgment found from the evidence adduced during the three-year trial that I was not the person sought by the U.S. authorities and it was a case of mistaken identity. The U.S. Judge Norgle, in whose court the indictment was filed, also held that I am not a fugitive from justice. I ask again: on what basis will the US authorities justifiably request for my extradition?

Furthermore, District Judge Workman also held that, “As a result of the evidence that the Defence has placed before me and the evidence which the Government has tendered in rebuttal, I find the following facts: that the defendant has a brother, who bears a striking resemblance to that of his. I am satisfied that the defendant’s brother was one of the co-conspirators…

”I am however satisfied that the overwhelming evidence here is such that the identification evidence, already tenuous, has now been so undermined as to make it incredible and valueless. In those circumstances, there is then no prima facie case against the defendant and I propose to discharge him.”

Now, these are the reports and decisions of credible and well-established organisations. Yet, some wicked souls take delight in blackmailing and maligning me, all in the name of politics. When I was working with ex-Governor Gbenga Daniel and empowering PDP members under his administration with over 700 vehicles, grants and working tools, I was not called names. When I started working with ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, fighting his political battles and mobilising for him, I was not a criminal. But now that he feels he has lost out in the political equation, he is raking up worn-out tales.

But pray, what is my offence when all I am doing, in conjunction with other like minds, is to champion a new order whereby our people would be free from the vice-grip of some self-styled political leaders who sit in the comfort of their homes to determine our collective fate, with its attendant consequences on the development and growth of the South West zone. They do not like a bold and courageous challenge to their outdated and warped style of leadership.

Instead of coming home to work for the growth of the party, they have elected to mass around the Presidency where they go from one office to the other, blackmailing me and others in order to protect their “pot of soup”. I am even told that just like he did to Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, he has even gone as far as asking the Beninoise government to frame me up anytime I visit the country.

Unknown to him, I am inadvertently being made popular by his acts even when I am not into any leadership or popularity contest with anyone. Indeed, my resolve is made stronger the more Obasanjo and his associates seek to rubbish me, for as the French poet Michel de Montaigne said, “We endeavour that men should speak of us, than how and what they speak, and it sufficeth us that our name run in men’s mouths, in what manner soever…”

For me, the almighty Allah Subhana wa tala is the giver and taker of life. He is my shepherd and shield. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil. I hold true to the inimitable words of Albert Einstein that “Let every man be respected as an individual and no man idolised.” That is why I remain immovable and unshakable in my firm commitment to the principles I believe in, no matter the odds.

My mission is to mobilise the mass of the people, return the party to them and involve them in decision-making process in the overall interest of the people of the South West geo-political zone. And no amount of blackmail, campaign of calumny and intimidation will stop me, for as my people would say, “Ibaje eniyan ko da ise Oluwa duro” (meaning “man’s slandering of his fellow man doesn’t stop God’s work in one’s life”).

Jonathan cannot contest in 2015 either Legally or politically, — Prof. Yadudu

Goodluck-Jonathan
president GEJ
Professor Awwal Yadudu was legal adviser to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha. In an interview with Sunday Vanguard, he forecloses President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election in 2015 on political and legal grounds. Yadudu believes the proposed National Conference is a ploy by the Federal Government to divert attention from the problems besetting it, saying the plan will fail.
His words, “If you read the 1999 Constitution carefully, it speaks about disqualification. It says a person shall be disqualified to hold office of governor of president if the person is elected twice to that office. A lot of people don’t quite know that that section says you cannot be eligible for the office of the president if you have contested twice. The same provision applies to the vice president meaning that a candidate is ineligible to contest if he has contested twice. The same qualification applies to the vice president. That means that Jonathan was elected with Yar’ Adua in 2007.
The vice president is part of the office of the president. By my understanding of that provision, President Jonathan is disqualified because when he stepped into the shoes of Yar’ Adua upon his death, he was not only completing a term, he was also part of the office of the president. The second aspect of the argument is the Constitution which says if you have taken oath of office twice. Jonathan has taken oath of office twice.
He took it when President Yar’ Adua died as a successor and took it when he was elected as president. There is no argument about the fact that he has taken oath of office twice, he can’t take it thrice. By the way, a lower court has ruled in the president’s favour and it has gone to the Court of Appeal and I can assure you the matter will end up at the Supreme Court and it will not be helpful to his situation”.

Tukur’s reply to OBJ's letter-Read

Why ex-president can’t leave – Tukur
The reply of Alhaji Bamangar Tukur, PDP National Chairman, to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter.
“It is an honour that you deemed it fit and proper to intimate me with an issue important to your mind and our party in the South-west zone. It is my wish and prayer that such cordial and positive relationship will continue between your good self; former President and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of our great party on one hand, and my humble self, the National Chairman of our party on the other hand.
“Buruji Kasamu came to limelight in politics as a result of the role he played in the politics of Ogun state where both of you come from. He later became a rallying point in the South-west following the Courts’ Orders in the series of cases brought about as a result of disagreements among leaders of the party in the South-west, and Ogun State in particular.
“In my opinion, Buruji became a rallying point because of the absence of a zonal executive in the South-west. This vacuum in the South-west has made him the person to whom many members in all the chapters of the party in the zone approach for one form of assistance or the order.
“We came in when we were threatened with contempt of court charges for not obeying the court’s order to dissolve the South-west zonal executive and remove some officers of the party.
“We complied with the court’s orders because of our belief in the rule of law and to avoid consequences of disobeying such orders.”

A 20-year-old Nigerian islamic was flogged in public after practicing homosexual

A 20-year-old Nigerian was flogged in public and fined after being convicted of breaking Islamic law banning homosexuality, an official said on Friday.
Mubarak Ibrahim received 20 lashes with a horse whip before a large crowd outside the Sharia court in the northern city of Bauchi.
“The court ordered that (he) be given 20 strokes and ordered him to pay a 5,000 naira ($30) fine,” Alhassan Zakari, an official with the Bauchi state Sharia Commission, told AFP.
“The judgment was based on the prosecution’s submission and testimony of witnesses… that the last time the convict committed a homosexual act was seven years ago and has since repented.”
The conviction came after it was confirmed earlier this week that Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan had signed a bill outlawing gay marriage and same-sex unions.
The law, which carries a maximum 14-year prison term for anyone entering such unions and up to 10 years in jail for supporting gay groups and clubs, has provoked international condemnation.
Ibrahim’s case was tried, however, under Islamic law, which runs parallel to the state and federal justice system in Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north.
Sharia prescribes the death penalty for homosexuality but Zakari said the prosecution would not appeal against the sentence.
Ibrahim himself said he was grateful to the court for not imposing the maximum punishment.
“It has been a huge relief and I thank the court for the leniency it showed in sentencing me to 20 lashes instead of the death sentence I had anticipated,” he said.
“I had given up and surrendered to death while in custody waiting for judgment. I was confused and did not know what to do.”
The defendant claimed that he had been “deceived into sodomy” by a school teacher who promised to support his education financially.
“Since them I have never set eyes on him and have never engaged in homosexuality again because I have since repented,” he added.
Ibrahim was one of 12 men arrested under Sharia on suspicion of breaking the law banning homosexuality. The remaining 11 are in custody pending further hearings.
Five men appeared in court in Bauchi on January 6 after an allegation that they formed a gay club with $150,000 funding from the United States.

Taraba: ‘Dep. Gov. aimed to put his Gov. 'Suntai' under house arrest’

By Luka Binniyat
*Suntai at the airport
*Suntai at the airport
A group, the Taraba Peoples Vanguard, yesterday, in Kaduna, alleged that the Deputy  Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Umar Garba, has issued instructions curtailing the movements of Governor Danbaba Suntai and  his aides, including restriction of visitors to the recuperating Suntai.
The group, in a statement by Chief Lidua Bako and Shawalu Garba,  National Coordinator and Secretary of the group respectively, also dismissed media reports that Suntai had visited Abuja to confer with President Goodluck Jonathan on his bid to return to power, saying he actually went to see his medical consultants and to meet with Gen. Theopheluos Danjuma (rtd) and other important indigenes of Taraba State.
The statement, in part, read: “We, the Taraba People’s Vanguard across the 35 states of the federation, have followed with very keen interest political developments in our state from the time  governor,  Danbaba Danfulani Suntai, was involved in that unfortunate air crash which the Almighty God, in His infinite mercies, rescued him from death. Unfolding political developments in the state since that time has been very shameful and especially the recent  moves to hijack the free mandate given Governor Danbaba Suntai by the overwhelming majority of Tarabans.
“It is quite disturbing that on 14th January while Muslims were busy celebrating the Ed – Maulud holiday, Deputy Governor Garba Umar of Taraba State convened a State Security Council meeting where he read out the following riot acts: That all the security aides of Governor Danbaba Suntai be transferred out of Government House, Jalingo.
“That henceforth all visitors to Governor Danbaba Suntai must be approved by the Deputy Governor, the Commissioner of Police or the governor’s younger brother, Babangida.
“That henceforth, apart from Sunday Church services, he must approve the governor’s movement within and outside the state.
“That, henceforth, all flights that would land at the Jalingo airport must first seek and obtain landing clearance from him.
“ Already a letter to implement this directive has been written and forwarded to the Airport Controller by Garvey Yawe, the SSG to the Deputy Governor.
“That the SSG and Chief of Staff appointed by Governor Suntai on his return from America have been banned from entering the Government House Jalingo.
“Our informant who is also a member of the State Security Council disclosed that the Deputy Governor severely warned everybody in the State Security Council meeting not to be caught amongst those who would attempt to contravene any of the above acts as he emphatically threatened that such a person would be summarily dealt with because, according to him, he has the blessing of Mr. President to read out the riot act.
“Despite numerous media propaganda sponsored by Umar that the governor went to Aso Rock and was rebuffed, unknown to the Deputy Governor, Governor Suntai never went to the Aso Rock or even sought to meet the president but went on a private medical visit to his consultants and to consult with prominent Taraba indigenes on the current developments in the state.
“This Vanguard was reliably informed that the frustration of Alhaji Garba Umar with Lieutenant General TY Danjuma is over the General’s refusal to recognize him as the Acting Governor but as Deputy Governor of Taraba State.
“In another swift move to send Governor Suntai completely out of the state so as to pave way for Alhaji Garba Umar was the suggestion by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice appointed by Umar that Suntai be moved out of Nigeria back to hospital in America. This was vehemently opposed as it did not receive the blessing of most members of the Security Council.”
But a  close aide of Umar, who spoke to Sunday Vangaurd, said it was a lie that such a development ever happened.
“The acting governor is still loyal and respectful to the ailing Governor. He would never give such instruction. He has stabilised the state and is waiting for his boss to get well enough and come back to his office”, he stated on phone.

If you want to get rich quick, here is the Nigerian blueprint. But please, don’t tell anyone I “wiki-leaked” this highly-classified national secret to you

1 Rob a bank
This strategy has gone through some transition. Bank-robbers used to be men of theunderworld who held banks hostage at gunpoint and then made off with the cash. However, it was soon recognised that this approach has distinct disadvantages. You might get arrested and jailed. Even worse, you might get shot. It also became apparent that banks carry limited amounts of cash.

Therefore, a successful bank robbery of this violent kind might only land you perhaps 50 million naira tops, which is not even enough to buy or build a house in Banana Island. There is a better way to rob a bank with far limited risk. Simply establish a bank.

When you establish a bank, you can rob the bank every day without a gun. When people deposit money in your bank, they don’t know that they are handing over their life-savings to a thief. You then rob the bank you establish in a number of imaginative ways.

For example, you can lend money to your bank and then charge it a very high interest-rate. Better still, you can borrow billions from your bank and simply forget to pay it back. Or, you can use the money deposited in your bank to buy houses and then rent them out as branches to your bank at exorbitant prices.

This approach is guaranteed to make you a fewbillion naira until the EFCC policemen come calling. When they do, you can quickly fall sick, spend a few months in Deluxe Hospital Hotel and then relocate to your village to enjoyyour wealth, never to be heard of again.

2 Join the PDP.
This one is a sure banker. As a member of the greatest party in the history of Africa, you will be given a credit-card to spend Nigeria’s oil wealth. If you are not getting enough attention in the party, make a lot of noise. Abuse Tinubu on the pages of the newspapers and call Buhari an .

Insist that Goodluck Jonathan should not only run for re-election unopposed in 2015, there should be a constitutional amendment to make him a life-president. This is a tell-tale sign thatyou are hungry; and the powers-that-be will soon invite you to “come and chop.”

As a distinguished member of this great party, the opportunities open for you to set yourself up for life are considerable. For example, you can start collecting billions for petroleum subsidy and simply not import any petrol whatsoever. You can get the government to change all car license-plates nationwide; and then become the sole supplier of the new license-plates.

You can ask the president to make you the soleimporter and distributor of diesel for the entirecountry. Of course, this might also entail that you become the chairman of his re-election campaign, to which you duly make a handsomecontribution. Alternatively, you can ask to be chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority.

Nobody will bat an eyelid when, within a matter of months, you have a fleet of cars, havetwo or three houses in Asokoro, and own four hotels in Dubai.

You may even kick out your wife and marry a fourteen-year-old “Suzie” befitting your new status. You have arrived as one of Nigeria’s celebrated rich men. But keep your eyes on the ball. Don’t get distracted or carried away. The enemies of Mr. President must always remain your enemies.

3 Start a mega-church

This one is pure genius. Peradventure you loseyour job or fall on hard times. Don’t go into depression. Just start a church. Make it a purpose-built church. Think of something that men need. Tell them you have the anointing toprovide it. Tell them whoever wants to be a billionaire should come to your church. Start afew of your messages with “Thus says the Lord.” Then teach your congregation the everlasting principles of sowing and reaping.

Make sure they understand that if they really want God to bless them financially, they first have to give you as much money as possible. Create a special prayer group for millionaires and billionaires. That way, if they get any new government contract they will attribute it to the efficacy of your prayers and credit something big into your bank account. Tell everybody to give you their “first-fruits.”

That is a code word for their entire January salaries. Then come up with imaginative offerings to collect, such as “prophet’s offering,” (you, of course, being the prophet); “Father, Son and Holy Ghost offerings;” “Jesus will do it offering.”

Very soon, you will be flying your own private jet to preach your gospel in Ilesha; you will be wearing white Armani suits and jerry-curling your hair; you will be collecting gate-fees for new years’ eve services; billionaire thieves androbbers will be queuing up to see your private-secretary on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. In short, you will be living large. For good measure, you will also be slapping demons out of poor bewitched damsels with impunity.

4 Become a mule
There is high demand for this job. There are many politicians and men of timber and caliberlooking for mules; men who can keep stolen money for them, or smuggle it to safe havens abroad. This is a highly lucrative job because for every ten billion naira you smuggle, you can pocket one billion. Don’t get greedy and come to the conclusion that you can make off with the entire loot.

That is a sure way to have assassins on your tail. Before they kill you, they will first break your legs. If you are caught while smuggling money abroad, you can easily escape and comeback home dressed as a woman. Then you can get a national merit award.

If you are a mule for a president or a governor, you are set up for life. You will get 24 hours military protection so that no petty thief can come near you. You will get to travel all over the world. You will get free medical check-ups,so that you don’t just fall down one day and die.

That would be disastrous, especially if your sponsor does not know exactly where you kept his loot, or if he does not have the password to the secret account you opened for it in the Bahamas in the name of Ali Baba.

5 Obituary

I remember the story of a former Nigerian Head of State who allegedly kept a billion dollars with a mule. Then the mule had a stroke. Every effort was made to get him to say just a few words, namely the number of theaccount where the loot was stashed; but to no avail.

After a few months, the man died. This “national” calamity has prompted the review ofthe conditions of service of mules. There are now two new, strictly prohibited, clauses. Mules must not have strokes, and under no circumstances should a mule presume to die. If he does, his generations yet unborn will suffer for it.

(P.S./N.B. If you have perfected other Nigerianapproaches to quick wealth than these, don’t hesitate to let me know. I promise to keep the matter strictly confidential). Abeg if them catch you no mention my name o! Infact, we no meet sef. U no know me I no know U.. Gbam!
