North ‘ll cause another Civil War – Asari
*"We will cut them (the Northerners) off from the world. We are capable of doing that. T...here
will be no food and they will pay dearly for their actions."
ABUJA—Former President of Ijaw Youth Congress, IYC, and leader of Niger
Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Alhaji Dokubo Asari, has said
that those scheming to remove President Goodluck Jonathan from office
were fanning the embers of war in Nigeria.
He also accused Northern leaders of creating the atmosphere of
insecurity in the country.
Asari, who addressed newsmen in Abuja, yesterday, recalled that the Isa
Kaita, who he said represented a collection of Northern oligarchy, had
prior to 2011 general elections, declared that they will make Nigeria
ungovernable for Jonathan should he eventually emerged as President,
pointing out that incessant bombings and killings credited to the
North-based Boko Haram was the manifestation of the threat by Kaita.
Asari also said the North will be the greatest losers should the war
begin. He said: “On Boko Haram, the North will lose. We are just
waiting; they will push us to an extent where we will tell Goodluck
Jonathan that he is on his own. But what will happen will be one that
will be unimaginable in the history of the world.
“We will cut them (the Northerners) off from the world. We are capable
of doing that. There will be no food and they will pay dearly for their
actions. This war will be no joke. There will be no army to prosecute
the war for them. When the war starts, other ethnic groups like the
Yoruba will tell the North ‘you are on your own.’
“We are saying that nothing must happen to Jonathan because if anything
happens to him, the world will know. The arrogance of Boko Haram is
un-Islamic. The type of bomb they are using is small. If we begin to
throw bombs, nobody will stay in Abuja.
“We don’t manufacture bomb but we will buy them and dynamites. I
started armed struggle in the Niger Delta. It is because of Goodluck
Jonathan that we kept quiet.
“But soon, we will not be able to guarantee our patience any more. If
Ijaw people should retaliate, every household in the North will cry. It
is the North that needs peace more than us. Everybody must impress it
on them that they should sheathe their swords and drop their
arrogance.”
Asari said it was an insult on President Jonathan for him to be asked
by Boko Haram to convert to Islam or resign his position. He warned
that the Ijaw nation will retaliate should anything happen to Jonathan.
He urged President Jonathan to urgently convene a Sovereign National
Conference, SNC, which he said was long overdue, to determine the
future of Nigeria amidst the ethnic nationalities.

Jonathan Appoints Bamanga Tukur As Nigeria Railway Corporation Chairman
President Goodluck Jonathan has...
appointed the immediate past National
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, Bamanga Tukur, as
Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian
Railway Corporation.
Mr. Tukur last week resigned his
position as National Chairman of the
PDP. He has since been replaced with
ex-Bauchi governor, Adamu Muazu.
Mr. Tukur’s appointment as Railway
Corporation, NRC, chairman was
announced in a statement by the
Special Assistant (Media) to the
Secretary to the Government of the
Federation, Sam Nwaobasi.
The position of NRC chairman was
formerly held by Kawu Baraje, the
former factional chairman of the PDP
who has since led his faction to fuse
into the All Progressives Congress. Mr.
Baraje resigned in the height of the PDP
crisis in late 2013.
Mr. Jonathan, according to the
statement, has also approved the
appointment of Ghaji Ismaila Bello as
Director-General of the National
Population Commission with effect from
January 8, 2014.
According to its enabling law, the
Nigeria Railway Corporation is charged
with facilitating effective “carriage of
passengers and goods in a manner that
will offer full value for money; meet
cost of operation; improve market share
and quality of services; ensure safety of
operations and maximum efficiency;
meet social responsibility in a manner
that will meet the requirements of rail
users, trade, commerce, industry and
general public”.
President Jonathan had after
announcing Mr. Tukur’s resignation as
PDP chairman at the National Executive
Committee meeting of the party, on
January 16, hinted that he would
reward the former party chief with
another appointment.
“He (Mr. Tukur) is not guilty of any
offence and I am going to give him an
assignment that is tougher than PDP
chairman,” the president said at that
event.

GOVS AT WAR: OBI ATTACKS OKOROCHA
Governor
Okorocha had allegedly described Anambra people as the cause of Igbo
problem during the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’
meeting in Owerri.
In the said statement, Okorocha reportedly described Anambra elite as people who play cash and carry politics. He was quoted as saying, “political leaders from Anambra State played cash and carry politics which had sabotaged the efforts of Ndigbo in achieving the age-long ambition ...of producing the president of Nigeria.”
In a swift reaction, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Obi, Mr. Mike Udah, in a statement, described Governor Okorocha as “a rabble rouser, an ingrate and one so arrogant, who has no respect for senior citizens.
“Okorocha’s utterances smack of sheer arrogance. They emanate from an over-ambitious rabble rouser, who easily gets carried away any moment he is handed a microphone. The
“Imo State governor is desperate to become the next Igbo president or vice president of Nigeria. This is simply the reason he abandoned the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) through which he recorded his first electoral victory since he started jumping from pillar to post over the years.
“His desperation did not allow him to realize that he was made by Governor Peter Obi and Chief Victor Umeh, who are both chieftains of APGA. It is laughable. In fact, unfathomable that a man could bite the finger that fed him without qualms.
“Such attitude could only come from Okorocha who betrayed Chief Martin Agbaso on whose back he rode to the Imo State Government House and slammed his younger brother and former deputy governor, Jude Agbaso. Okorocha’s victims are legion. They include the church, mothers and children upon whom his Abortion Bill would have dealt a crushing blow and so many others.
“Okorocha has no moral ground to talk about unity among Ndigbo. Is he united with Emeka Ihedioha who, with a whiff of recklessness, he has advised to join the APC simply because he is already jittery that the deputy speaker of House of Representatives would chase him away from Douglas House, Owerri in 2015?”
Okorocha had among other things urged contemporary Igbo politicians to work together as a crop of new leaders to move Ndigbo forward unlike what happened in the past when Igbo leaders were not united.See More

THE MURDER OF A 26YR OLD WOMAN
26
year old Ijeoma Nwachukwu went missing last Saturday January 11th after
telling a staff of her aunt’s that she was going to meet up with her
boyfriend of over two years…some guy named Ifeanyi.
According to family sources, Ijeoma left home around 9.30 that Saturday morning to her aunt’s shop at the Tradefair complex to help with cleaning. By the time she was done by 4 that evening, she told the other lady she worked with that she was going t...o meet up with her boyfriend, who had come to the store earlier in the day to give her some kind of chemical to keep for him. The boyfriend then called Ijeoma and asked her to meet him at a hotel called Cossy Hotel at Abuleosun near Tradefair.
That was the last anyone heard from Ijeoma until the police alerted her family on Monday January 13th and told them that her body had been found in a bush near the hotel.
Ifeanyi later confessed that he killed her by forcing the chemical, believed to be acid, down her throat, after which he strangled her. Ijeoma’s family say he confessed to the police that he killed her because she wanted to marry someone else.
According to her family, after killing his girlfriend, Ifeanyi fled the hotel in a bike. It was the hotel staff that found her body and got someone to alert the police. But in the meantime they removed her corpse from their hotel and kept it in a nearby bush.
The deceased is from Ngwa, Abia state, while the alleged killer is from Enugu and until this incident, worked as an apprentice for a business owner at Tradefair. The case has been transferred to PANTI from Onireke Police station.
